36 Days of Type
↳ Client: 36 Days of Type
36 Days of Type is a project that invites designers, illustrators and graphic artists to express their interpretation of the letters and numbers of the Latin alphabet. An annual open call exploring the creative boundaries of letterforms, where participants are challenged to design a letter or number each day for 36 consecutive days, as a global and simultaneous act showing the outcome of the ability to represent the same symbols from thousands of different perspectives. A project that aims to be a space for creation around typography and its endless graphics possibilities.
It has been a great honour to be the guest designer for the “T” letter for the 36 Days of Type 2020 edition.
The approach consisted of blending the physical and the digital world, so this led to seeking inspiration from the surroundings to design the letter T. Anything around us that can stimulate our senses and become an “object” for investigation: a hole in a t-shirt, a wrong print, even a gift ribbon, which was the case for the 36 Days of Type letter T.
The physical world can do all these amazing things but that digital one is the one that makes it possible to create something out of it. The physical experimentations can be creatively distorted by the digital impact in order to enrich the design outcomes and assist discovering unique design approaches and techniques.
