The 2025 Pentawards hero graphic was designed to establish a bold and innovative visual identity for the prestigious annual awards. Since its founding in 2007, Pentawards has celebrated excellence in packaging design, connecting a global community through competitions, conferences, and digital events. For the 2025 edition, the focus was on creating visuals that embody the dynamic and ever-evolving nature of design while maintaining the brand’s premium essence.
Experimentation was central to the creative process. The design was crafted using oil- and water-based liquids, whose inability to mix created mesmerising interactions captured through photography. These intricate, fluid compositions symbolise the adaptability and creativity of great design—where functionality and aesthetics merge to produce exceptional results. At the core of the visuals is the iconic Pentawards pentagon, emerging from the negative space within the liquid forms to subtly tie the identity back to the brand.
The liquid-inspired identity reflects the transformative nature of packaging design. Just as liquid flows and transforms, design evolves to balance functionality, aesthetics, and innovation. The vibrant liquid elements in this project capture this fusion of creativity and practicality, representing different ideas and materials coming together to push boundaries.
Brought to life with bold typography and vibrant colours, the final graphics strike a seamless balance of energy and precision. They embody the essence of Pentawards, celebrating innovation, craftsmanship, and the transformative power of design. Serving as a centrepiece for the 2025 edition, the visuals reinforce Pentawards’ reputation as a leading force in the global packaging design community.
